It is surrounded by an incredible variety of habitats that facilitate unsurpassed nature-based and soft-adventure activities that depart right from your cabaña’s doorstep without the need for day-trips. The nearest full-service lodge or hotel is over 70 miles away. Unlike many other lodges who share the same area and attractions, Lamanai Outpost is very much in a world of its own. Whether exploring the Maya ruins or watching nature awaken as the sun rises over Crab-Catcher Lagoon, it is almost guaranteed that it will be just you, your guide and a few friends that you have made at the Outpost.
BLANCANEAUX - A Virtuoso Property
Blancaneaux is Francis Ford Coppola’s first lodge in Belize, and these superb accommodations include riverside cabanas, garden cabanas, six luxurious two-bedroom villas, with Japanese-inspired bathrooms, soaring hardwood and hand-woven ceilings, and verandas that open to the rainforest. Mexican architect, Manolo Mestre worked with Coppola on the lodge, and the villas he designed rise from the jungle on stilts. Francis and Eleanor Coppola chose the furnishings for each villa from Mexico and Guatemala. The furniture on the decks and in the restaurant are hand-crafted and the slate bar carved with ancient Mayan symbols was created by a local artisan. The restaurant at Blancaneaux features a wood-burning pizza oven, and Mr. Coppola imported an espresso machine and coffee roaster. The menu features many Coppola family recipes reflecting his Italian heritage.
